Veterinary medicine studies

Veterinary medicine deals with prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the diseases of domestic and farm animals and the control of other animal disorders and welfare. Partly it includes diseases that are intercommunicable between animals and humans. Veterinary medicine program prepares students for a career of veterinary surgeon. Advances in the field are also leading students to further education in the animal sciences. Furthermore, graduates in veterinary medicine can look forward to careers as veterinarians, zoologists, veterinary researchers, animal welfare specialists and more. The link between animal and publich health has been stressed these days in the context "Animal+Human=One Health". That is why veterinarians are needed not only for animal, but also for human and envoronmental health.

Veterinary Academy, a part of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences since 2010, is an internationally open institution founded in 1936. It is the only school of higher education training veterinary doctors and animal husbandry technologists in Lithuania since 1936. Veterinary Academy is a member of The European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE). Veterinary medicine study curiculla was evaluated by EAEVE in 2003. Starting with academic year 2010/2011 international university degree study program in veterinary medicine in English language is offered.
